Download and Installation

Linux (Source Compilation)

Source archives require compilation. Qt5 development tools should be installed before building.

Windows

The Windows build is typically distributed as a zip archive with required Qt DLLs included.

1. Unzip the archive anywhere (Desktop, home folder, USB drive)
2. Do not modify the folder structure
3. Run zyGrib.exe

Packages may be available as a standard build, and as a larger build that includes high-resolution maps.

macOS (Intel)

macOS Intel builds are commonly distributed as ready-to-use .dmg packages, optionally including high-resolution maps.

High-Resolution World Maps (Optional)

The main package typically includes several map resolutions (for example ≈25 km, ≈5 km, and ≈1 km). Optional higher-resolution layers (≈200 m and ≈100 m) can be added for improved visuals.

Additional Cities Lists

City lists derived from GeoNames can be copied into data/gis/. Files are often grouped by population size (e.g., 10k+, 3k–10k, 1k–3k, etc.).
